GEA PHOTOWORDS AWARD

2ND  INTERNATIONAL AWARD OF  DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY GEA PHOTOWORDS – REVELA

GEA PHOTOWORDS announces the second edition of the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography for the finalists of REVELA, the 2nd International Photography Award for Social Rights Holders.

RULES:
1. As entrants in REVELA, 2nd International Photography Award Social Rights Holders, all competing photographers automatically participate in the second edition of the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography (no need to enter separately).

2. All finalists for REVELA, 2nd International Photography Award Social Rights Holders, both winners and non-winners, will compete for the award.

3. The Jury of the second edition of the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography will be composed by members of this organization designated by its Steering Committee.

4. Dates and deadlines will be the same as those applying for REVELA, 2nd International Photography Award for Social Rights Holders. The announcement of the winner as well as the presentation of the award will take place during the same ceremony in Barcelona in May 2013. The exact date will be published in the website of the Revela Award.

5. The criteria for selecting the winner will be of a strictly photographic nature, and in particular will be based on those aspects which characterize documentary photography (technical quality, message, visual storytelling, storyline and postproduction). This will distinguish the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography from REVELA, International Photography Award for Social Rights Holders, which will include additional criteria related to the humanitarian and solidarity project (management, needs, aims, etc.).

6. Following the announcement of the winner of the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography, as part of the same ceremony one member of this organization will present him/her a diploma and a money prize of 1.200 €. It is possible that one single author and project is awarded with both prizes.

7. GEA PHOTOWORDS will publish on all its online platforms (Web, blog and social networks) both the verdict of the jury and the winning reportage, along with information about it and its author, with the aim to disseminate the goals of the solidarity project, the overall work of the author and the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography. However, this organization does not acquire any other right over the winning images, whose copyright and intellectual property will be retained by the author.

8. The GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography will be assigned in any case. It will be granted to one of the 20 finalists of REVELA, 2nd International Photography Award for Social Rights Holders.

9. GEA PHOTOWORDS reserves the right to change these rules for future contests.

10. All participants wishing to enter the GEA PHOTOWORDS International Award for Documentary Photography agree to be bound by these rules.
