The story tells the coexistence of a theater company formed by prisoners inside the penitentiary in Quatre Camins. Barcelona.
The “Theatre of the Oppressed” is a theatrical trend systematized by the playwright, actor, director and educator Brazilian Augusto Boal.
This is the theater of the oppressed classes and the oppressed, to develop an anti-oppressive structures.
Throughout the year 2012, a group made up of sixteen internal Quatre Camins Prison (La Roca del Vallès, Barcelona), have conducted a theatrical production entitled “When I say,” that was released in the month of October inside the prison. There were five performances, combining outside and internal public (all), was a success. They have also been part of the cast and production of the film “Border”, shot entirely within the enclosure and external actors and crew.
Teatrodentro is a training project and artistic production in prisons with emphasis on creating communication channels inside-out through generated works.
The company consists of lighting technicians, sound technicians, art producers, actors, schemers, clothing, all prisoners.
Inside the theater space in the module, inmates communicate with each other without fear, a term which is unusual within the enclosure because what is violence predominates, interest and distrust. They can start their emotions and have a way to escape the monotony or simply be treated as normal and ordinary people, their jobs and their responsibilities within a group.
“Our goal is to have fun, make the most of each in the theater, we try to create a space where prisoners can relate as people.” Louvat Thomas, Director of the company.
